Free RAW Photo: Niagara Falls

Here is the photo I took many years ago in Niagra Falls when I was still shooting with Canon. It is a view of the Rainbow bridge, which connects Canada and the USA, and the Bridal Veil Falls, a part of the Niagra Falls. I was shooting from the observation deck of the Skylon Tower after heavy rain.

Exif Data:

  • Camera: Canon 60D
  • Lens: Sigma 17-70mm
  • Aperture: f/8
  • Shutter Speed: 1/400s
  • ISO: 100
  • Focal length: 17mm

When you edit the free raw photo, you will have to address 3 main issues:

  • The RAW photo is underexposed by 2/3 stops.
  • It has strong barrel distortion (horizon)
  • It has plenty of digital noise.

My RAW Editing Version

And here is my editing version of the free RAW image. You can access all my editing steps from the Snapshot Panel of the Develop module in Lightroom.

I thought that area of the sky was uninspiring. I decided to reduce its visual impact by changing the aspect ratio from 3:2 to 16:9.
