Sunrise at Blacks Harbour (New Brunswick)

Last Updated on by Viktor Elizarov

Blacks Harbour is a village in New Brunswick with the population of less than 1000. It is located on the coast of Bay of Fundy. This is the place of the terminal from where the year-round ferry leaves for Grand Manan Island.

Every time I travel to Grand Manan Island, I arrive at Blacks Harbour very early in the morning to make sure I get to the very first ferry of the day. And while I am waiting in the line I have 30-40min to walk around the harbour and take a few early morning foggy shots.

Shooting & Processing

It was not necessary to bracket my shots because the fog served as the giant defuser making the overall lighting less dynamic. But, I  took 3 bracketed shots (-1, 0, +1) anyway as an insurance.

I used single RAW image editing in Lightroom. I described the process in Introduction to Lightroom Rapid Editing System.

First I applied Lightroom preset Drought from my Landscape Collection and later I used ToolKit to adjust exposure mostly because the photo was a bit underexposed.

The Lightroom Preset Editing Formula: Drought (1, 8, 34)
