This photo is from my Atlantic Canada coastal drive. We drove all the way from Quebec City to Prince Edward Island along the St. Lawrence River and the Atlantic Ocean.
We spent the entire day hiking in the Forillon National Park, and later that day took a whale watching tour in Gaspe Bay. Since it was the pre-iPhone era I miscalculated the time of the sunset, and while driving along Gaspe Bay I realized that I would not be able to photograph Perce Rock at sunset as I had originally planned.
Our stop at the tiny rocky beach at Seal Cove was completely unintended and spontaneous. I could not afford to miss the sunset. As the sun started to set the scene suddenly changed colors from golden to purple, making it seem very unusual and beautiful at the same time.
We ended up spending much more time on the beach and even enjoyed a small picnic on the rock cliff under the trees.
