This is a new edition of Cooking RAWs series where I ask people to send me one of their unprocessed RAW photos and I would give them a few ideas how to approach the Lightroom editing in the most efficient way.
The main attraction of the scene is the rock formation in the foreground and as the result, the goal of the editing was to emphasize the textures and the colors of the rocks.
Total time: 2min
Since I was happy with the original composition, all I had to do is to rotate image slightly to make sure the horizon was straight.
I used the Crop Overlay tool to rotate the image.
Lightroom Rapid Editing
Total time: 10min
If you are not sure what is Lightroom Rapid Editing, please check my detailed tutorial “Lightroom Rapid Editing System”.
I used presets from 3 different collections to produce 4 final versions.
- Crisp Morning from Winter Colors Collection
- End of Summer and Point Lobos from Landscape Collection
- Sand Castle from Summer Colors Collection
Under each photograph, you can find the Lightroom Editing Formula which reflects every single editing step.
As you can see it took me between 4 and 6 clicks to achieve the final edits.
Lightroom Editing Formula: Crisp Morning (9, 17, 22, 31)
Lightroom Editing Formula: End of Summer (1, 10, 16, 31, 34)
Lightroom Editing Formula: Point Lobos (10, 21, 25, 32, 34)
Lightroom Editing Formula: Sand Castle (1, 17, 19, 25, 32, 34)
